To clean: Turn it inside out and use soap and water, scraping clean.

Efficiency: The standard rating of a filter indicates that 80% of particles of the rated micron size or larger will be trapped by the filter.  Two passes will filter 94%, and three passes will filter 99.2%, and so on.
